Dog World > Activities > Neuter and Release, IMKB (March 31st, 2006)

On Friday 31st of March, SHKD, in collaboration with the Homeless Animals Society began the operation of Neuter and Release of the dogs living in the gardens of the Istanbul Exchange.

In recent times, the number of dogs and cats living in the gardens of the Exchange has been on the increase. Every effort made by the Exchange to expel the animals from their premises has failed.

Collecting the animals and locking them in shelter is an inefficient temporary solution. In a matter of days a new group of dogs would establish themselves and claim the territory. The problem is made worst by the fact that none of those stray dogs and cats are neutered (spayed) and they reproduce at alarming speed.

Visitors and investors alike to the Istanbul Stock Exchange have become increasingly aware of the stray dog problem in Istanbul.

The recent actions of some municipalities have turned into a public relations disaster.

Neuter and Release will have a direct impact in the mind of the investor community. We need to deal with the problem in a HUMANE, EFFICIENT and PERMANENT MANNER.

It is time for a new approach, Neuter and Release.
